- Dental practice data
How competitive is an area? Practice counts for general dental, orthodontic, pediatric dental, periodontal, endodontic and oral surgery offices are automatically updated daily based on the latest changes to our phone-verified database of competing practices.
- Dental salaries
Are associates well paid? Will you be able to find help at a reasonable rate? Updated annually, these figures detail the median salary of general dentists in selected regions across the country.

How competitive is an area compared to similar counties? Ratios of residents per general dental office are plotted against median household income and presented alongside the state’s remaining counties as well as the national trendline.
Is a particular age group over or underrepresented? In this section, both a county’s median age and percentage of its population in key age groups are displayed next to the state’s comparable figures.
Do households have disposable income to spend on cosmetic dental care or is price more important? Median household income and the percentage of households in key income brackets are shown for the selected county and state in which its located.
- Medicaid eligibility and enrollment
Is there a large number of Medicaid recipients in a particular county? County-level Medicaid enrollment figures and statewide income-based eligibility limitations as a percentage of the federal poverty level are used to demonstrate the size of the potential patient base of Medicaid recipients.
Are you bilingual or do you prefer to work in a language other than English? Or maybe you’re concerned that you won’t be able to connect with a large population of patients who don’t speak English.
Are homes owner-occupied or renter-occupied? In areas with larger renter populations, it’s easier for your patient base to pick up and move – leaving your practice behind.
Have adults over the age of twenty-five received a four year degree? Educational attainment is a key component of an area’s Dental IQ.
What does the future hold? With the number of construction permits filed in recent years, we can see how a county is trending and if significant new development is likely to come online soon.
